Using Secure Print on Xerox Copiers

On Xerox copiers you can send print jobs to a secure job box, then release them at the copier using a passcode.

On Xerox copiers, you can update your printing preferences to send your print jobs to a secure job box, then release them at the copier using a passcode. This setting change will persist for all printing on your machine.

PC Print Settings

  1. Click on the Windows icon and search Control Panel. 
  2. Click Devices and Printers from the list of options.
  3. Right click on the printer you wish to secure print to.
  4. Select Printer Preferences.Uploaded Image (Thumbnail)
  5. Under Job Type select: Secure Print.Uploaded Image (Thumbnail)
  6. You will be asked to set up a 4 digit numeric passcode, this can be any number you choose.Uploaded Image (Thumbnail)
  7. Click OK.
  8. Next, depending on your preference, follow one of the two options below:
  • If you would like all of your printed documents to go to the Secure Print queue:
    1. Click Apply.
    2. Print as you would normally to the printer. Your job will be held and will not print immediately without you putting in your passcode.
  • If you would like to switch between Normal Printing and Secure Printing:
    1. Click the Save icon underneath the Presets section.
    2. Select Save as 1-Touch.Uploaded Image (Thumbnail)

    4. Click OK on the confirmation window, then Cancel to close the default settings window.
    5. By default jobs will print out immediately.
    6. To hold your job click on Printer Properties when you are at the print preview window.Uploaded Image (Thumbnail)
    7. Then on the 1-Touch tab click on the preset you created.Uploaded Image (Thumbnail)
    8. Continue sending your document to the printer. It will not print until you enter your passcode.

​​​Releasing the Job at the Printer 

  1. Tap Jobs from the main touch panel menu.Uploaded Image (Thumbnail)
  2. This should bring you to a listing of all waiting secure print jobs by individuals. Tap your name from the list.Uploaded Image (Thumbnail)
  3. Enter your passcode. Your print job's title will not be shown as an additional security measure. If secure jobs do not immediately appear, try tapping the Secure Jobs tab.Uploaded Image (Thumbnail)
  4. Tap Print All, or individual jobs to print them.Uploaded Image (Thumbnail)

Troubleshooting

  • Forgotten Passcode
    • To reset your passcode go through the instructions again. You may need to switch the Job Type field to Normal Print, then back to Secure Print to be prompted for a new Passcode.
