This article covers how to give proxy access to a banner account.
Proxy Access Steps
- In a web browser, navigate to https://banner.jcu.edu/, select Students in the drop-down, then Student Profile, and log in.
- Click on the waffle in the upper left corner, select Banner, then Proxy Access Setup & Management.
- Select Proxy Management
- Select Add Proxy
- Enter the first name, last name, and email address of the person you wish to grant proxy access to and click Add Proxy.
- Proxy Access account's username will be the email address entered here. Ensure this field is correct before clicking Add Proxy
- Click Expand next to the proxy's name and complete the profile.
- Under Relationship select Parent or Legal Guardian.
- Enter a description (mom, dad, grandma, etc.)
- Enter Passphrase, if you are allowing the proxy to have verbal conversations with the Student Service Counselors in the Office of Student Enrollment and Financial Services. This allows the university to verify their identity. No information will be released over the phone to your proxy without this passphrase.
- Set beginning and end date of Proxy Access.
- If you set a passphrase, select the E-mail Passphrase icon. This will send your proxy an email with their Passphrase.
- Click on the Authorization tab to select the information you would like your proxy to access.
- The person you just added will receive an e-mail asking them to set up a password. Once your proxy has done this, they will be able to access the pages you have authorized.
Additional Information
- Settings above, can be edited or changed at anytime by going back to the proxy's profile.
- You can click on the History tab to view a history of authorization changes as well as the history of the proxy's logins and pages they have viewed.
- The Communications tab allows you to view a log of the various e-mails that have been sent to the proxy and gives you the ability to resend them (if necessary).
- If your proxy forgets their PIN to log in for Proxy Access, you can click on Reset PIN on the Proxy's profile to reset their PIN via email.
- If your proxy forgets the Passphrase you set up for them, you can click on E-mail Passphrase on the proxy's profile to reset their PIN via email.
- You are the only one who can reset the PIN and passphrase, and enable and/or disable access for your Proxy(s).
