Installing and Activating Microsoft Office

Prerequisites 

  • JCU-owned device
  • Must be connected to the JCU network or VPN if you are using your JCU device off campus.

Uninstalling Microsoft Office

Please proceed with this step only if you have the older version of Microsoft Office installed. Otherwise, start with Step 2.

  1. Click the Start Menu and open Settings, then click Apps & Features.Uploaded Image (Thumbnail)Uploaded Image (Thumbnail)
  2. In the Apps & Features window, find Microsoft Office LTSC Professional Plus 2024.
  3. Click on it, then press the Uninstall button.Uploaded Image (Thumbnail)
  4. A pop-up will ask you to confirm. Click Uninstall again to continue.
  5. Follow the on-screen instructions to finish removing the program. *If you need administrator permission, contact a Pro Staff member at the IT Service Desk.

Installing Microsoft Office

  1. Search for Software Center in the search bar next to the Start Menu.Uploaded Image (Thumbnail)
  2. Open the Software Center and go to Applications on the left side. Find Microsoft Office LTSC Professional Plus 2024.Uploaded Image (Thumbnail)
  3. Click on the app and select Install.

*If you see a Retry button instead of Install, click Retry to start the installation again.

*If the installer asks for administrator permission, contact a Pro Staff member at the IT Service Desk.

 

Activating Microsoft Office

  1. Go back to the Applications window in the Software Center to see all available apps.Uploaded Image (Thumbnail)
  2. Look for Activate Office JCU and click Install or Retry.

If it says the installation failed, this is normal. Try opening an app like Word to see if you can edit a blank document. If it doesn’t work, repeat this step.
