What is Respondus LockDown Browser?

Respondus LockDown Browser is a locked browser app that prevents students from printing, copying, going to another URL, or accessing other applications while completing assessments. If Respondus LockDown Browser is required to be used during a Canvas quiz or exam, students won't be able to use a standard web browser to take it. The LockDown Browser is installed on all JCU lab and classroom computers.

Utilizing a Webcam (Respondus Monitor)

Respondus Monitor is a webcam feature for LockDown Browser that records students during online, non-proctored quizzes. When this feature is enabled for a quiz, students are required to use a webcam and microphone with LockDown Browser. After the quiz is complete, an instructor can review details of the assessment and view the recorded videos.

  1. From the left side Course Navigation in Canvas, click on LockDown Browser.
