How to Copy Content from Another Canvas Course Using the Course Import Tool

This article covers how to import/copy & paste files between two Canvas courses.

Prerequisites 

  • Must be a JCU faculty
  • Must have access to a Canvas account
  • Must have access to a Canvas course as a teacher/instructor, designer or teaching assistant

How to Import Content in Canvas:

  1. Log into Canvas with your JCU credentials and click on the course you want the imported files to go.
  2. Click Settings at the very bottom of the navigation menu on the left side of your screen.Uploaded Image (Thumbnail)
  3. Click on Import Course Content at the right side of your screen.Uploaded Image (Thumbnail)
  4. Under the Select Content Type drop-down menu, click on Copy a Canvas Course.Uploaded Image (Thumbnail)
    • After that, you can either find the course containing your files from the Select a course drop-down menu or manually looking it up in the search box.Uploaded Image (Thumbnail)
  5. Click on either Select specific content if you only want certain files to be imported, or All content to copy and paste the entire course.Uploaded Image (Thumbnail)
  6. Click on Add to Import Queue.Uploaded Image (Thumbnail)
