Connect to a JCU Printer from a Personal Device

Below are the instructions for connecting to a printer from a personal computer or mobile device.

Prerequisites 

  • Before beginning, please ensure that you are connected to eduroam if you are on a wireless connection!

Windows

  1. Go to https://jcu.edu/its/services/computing-and-printing/mobility-print and click on the link for Windows PC.

  2. Click Download.

  3. Run the “pc-mobility-print” installer when it finishes downloading.

  4. Select your language and agree to the terms and conditions.

  5. Click in the checkbox next to the printer(s) you wish to print to.

    • Most of the printers are department printer that will not print out student jobs.

    • Student printers will begin with "Print Release" or "PUBLIC" in their name. Please look at the label on printer you want to use.

  6. Enter your JCU credentials when prompted.

  7. The selected printers will then be added to your list of available printers on your computer, and you are able to print normally. Note that pages printed do count towards your allocated limit of pages per semester - once you meet that limit attempting to print will result in print failure. Contact IT for assistance if that occurs.

  • Note: The Mobility Print installer can be run again at any time if you need to connect to an additional printer.

macOS

  1. Go to https://jcu.edu/its/services/computing-and-printing/mobility-print and click on the link for MacOS.

  2. Click Download.

  3. Open the installer.

  4. Double Click on Papercut Mobility Print Client.pkg

  5.  Advance through prompts agreeing to license and click “Install”.

  6. Input your mac user password when prompted. The installation process can take 2-3 minutes to complete. 

  7. The installer will run for a few minutes. When it finishes you will see all the printers listed in the Printer preference window under System Preferences.

    • Student printers will begin with "Print Release" or "PUBLIC" in their name. Please look at the label on printer you want to use.

    • Most of the printers are department printer that will not print out student jobs.

  8. The first time you try printing using a given printer - you will be prompted to put in your University credentials.  Check the box “remember this password in my keychain” if you wish to have your credentials saved for future use. 

  9. The printers are now available for use. Please note that print jobs will use your allocation of printed pages given to you each semester. If you exceed that limit, print jobs will fail to send, and you will need to contact ITS for assistance.

iOS

  1. Go to https://jcu.edu/its/services/computing-and-printing/mobility-print and Tap on the link for iOS.

  2. Tap Download.

  3. Tap Allow

  4. Navigate to the “Settings” app on your iOS device.

  5. Tap "Profile Downloaded"

  6. Tap “Install”. Put in your lock passcode for your device when prompted.

  7. Tap "Install" again.

  8. Tap "Done" at the top right.

  9. You will be prompted for your JCU username and password the first time you print. Subsequent print jobs sent to that printer when authenticated will not prompt for credentials.

  1. Go to https://jcu.edu/its/services/computing-and-printing/mobility-print and Tap on the link for Android.

  2. Tap Install.
