Starting at the end of June, we will be transitioning from Avaya phones to Zoom phones. This process will be conducted building by building, with IT personnel visiting your department offices to collect the old Avaya phones. An email with the detailed schedule for each building will be sent out as soon as it is completed.
By leveraging the power of the Zoom app which most people already use, we expect to minimize the number of traditional phones on campus. Zoom phone functionality will be enabled in the existing Zoom app already installed on your Windows, Mac, iOS, or Android device. It offers enhanced features, such as texting from your JCU phone number and more.
All common areas, classrooms, elevators, administrative assistants' offices, and department reception areas will receive Zoom Phone Handsets as part of this transition. For individual offices, we recommend using the Zoom Phone app with a headset. If you require a physical phone handset or a headset, please submit your request through our service desk ticketing system (servicedesk.jcu.edu) by July 1st.
