How to Use the One Button Studios

Prerequisites 

  • Must be a JCU student or a staff/faculty member
    • The library One Button studio requires a Carroll Card to access the room. 
  • Must have access to a Canvas account

This article discusses how to utilize the two One Button studios on-campus.

Grasselli Library Rm. B102

Video recorder

  1. On the side of the table, press the on button on the white colored circular holder.
  2. Adjust the height of the table with the up and down arrows at the right corner of the table.
  3. Log in to Canvas using your JCU credentials.
  4. Once you're in Canvas, click on Studio on the left-hand side.
  5. Click on Create in the top center of the screen.
  6. Then click on Studio Capture.
    1. You have the ability to customize your background.
  7. Click on Start Recording.
  8. After you're finished, click on Finish.
    1. Decide if you want to Save Media or Start Over. The saved media will appear in Canvas Studio for you to view anytime.

Studio Lightboard

  1. On the side of the lightboard, press the on button on the white colored circular holder.
  2. Below the on/off buttons, turn both dials to the right to adjust the lighting in the video recording. 
    • Left knob will adjust the brightness on the screen
    • Right knob will adjust the brightness of the board itself
      • It will also adjust the lighting for any text, if you choose to write on the lightboard with markers provided
  3. Login to Canvas using your JCU credentials.
  4. Once you're in Canvas, click on Studio on the left-hand side.
  5. Click on Create in the top center of the screen.
  6. Then click on Studio Capture.
    1. You have the ability to customize your background.
  7. Click on Start Recording.
  8. After you're finished, click on Finish.
    1. Decide if you want to Save Media or Start Over. The saved media will appear in Canvas Studio for you to view anytime.

O'Malley Center Rm. 62

  1. Go to the right side of the lightboard and press the on button on the white colored circular holder.
  2. Adjust the height of the table with the up and down arrows at the right corner.
  3. Below the on/off buttons, turn both dials to the right to adjust proper lighting for you on the video recording. It will also adjust the lighting for any text, if you choose to write on the lightboard. Markers are provided.
  4. Log into Canvas with your regular JCU credentials.
  5. Once you're in Canvas, click on Studio on the left-hand side.
  6. Click on Create in the top center of the screen.
  7. Then click on Studio Capture.
    1. You have the ability to customize your background.
  8. Click on Start Recording.
  9. After you're finished, click on Finish.
    1. Decide if you want to Save Media or Start Over. The saved media will appear in Canvas Studio for you to view anytime.
    2. To record to a jump drive,
      1. Insert a jump drive. 
      2. Click the red button to record,
      3. Then the white stop button to end the recording.
