How to Fix Chrome Automatic Sign Outs Issues

Summary:

We have seen some instances where users are logged out of their Google Chrome accounts as soon as they fully close Google Chrome. When migrating to a new computer (PC or mac) these settings can migrate with you.

Prerequisites:

  • The affected user needs to be signed into Chrome

Procedure:

  • Close and relaunch Chrome
  • If your chrome profile goes immediately to a "Paused" state proceed to the next step

  • Ensure the browser is up to date
  • Go to this link: chrome://settings/cookies ensure ‘Allow third-party cookies’ is checked
  • Go to this link: chrome://settings/content/siteData and ensure ‘Allow sites to save data on your device’ is checked
  • Restart the browser and test to ensure that your Google login session is preserved (for instance go to gmail.com and if we can get there without a new login window this was successful), and ensure that "paused" does not appear on your profile
