Setting up Duo on a New Phone

Prerequisites 

  • Access to previous phone number or phone

If you switch to a new phone your Duo Mobile app will need to be reconnected to your account. If you have the same phone number or have access to the old phone you can use the below steps to connect your new phone to Duo. If you do not please reach out to the Service Desk for assistance.

Changing/Replacing Existing Duo Login Methods

Note: It is strongly suggested that you use the Duo Smartphone app instead of Text Messages to increase the security of your account (by selecting the Mobile Phone option).
  1. Go to the following page:
    • For Students: Use the Student Profile option
    • For Employees: Use the Employee Dashboard option
  2. On the Duo Security Login screen, please select the Other Options option, then the Manage Devices option.

  3. You will then be prompted to log into Duo.  Please select either the Duo Push, Text Messages Passcode or Phone Call options to verify yourself.Uploaded Image (Thumbnail)
  4. The My Settings & Devices screen will then show a list of your current Duo login methods.

  5. If you were previously using the Duo Smartphone app and will be using it on your new device as well:
    1. Click the I have a new phone option and follow the onscreen prompts to verify the device's ownership

    2. You will then be prompted to install the Duo client on your new device.

  6. If you were previously using either a phone call or an SMS message for Duo authentication:
    1. Click on the Edit Button for the device being replaced, and then delete the device
    2. Then click the Add a Device button

    3. Follow the onscreen prompts to add your new device.
    4. Once the new device has been added, confirm the Default Device setting is correct.
    5. Click Save.
  7. Verify Duo is working by clicking Back to Login link in the top right-hand corner and process through logging in again.
