Connect to the Eduroam Network

Eduroam is the recommended secure wireless network for all active JCU community members. It is available throughout campus, including inside the residence halls, in the classrooms, the RecPlex, administrative areas, and in the outdoor green spaces around campus.

Prerequisites 

• A  current member of the JCU community with a JCU login
• For a Windows computer, Windows 10 or higher is recommended
• For a Mac, macOS 12 Monterey or higher (recommended for best performance)

Connect to Eduroam on a Windows Device

1. Click on the WiFi icon in the bottom right of the screen.

   • 

2. Click on eduroam in the list of available networks, then click Connect.

   • 

3. At the login prompt:

   1. Log in with your JCU Username: Your full JCU email address (username@jcu.edu)

   2. Password: Use the password that you use to log onto a school computer or Canvas.

   3. 

4. If prompted to accept the connection or trust a certificate while attempting to join the network, it is safe to do so.

   • 

5. If the connection is successful you will see "Connected, secured" as the status.

Connect to Eduroam on a Mac Device

1. Click on the WiFi icon in the top right of the screen.

   • 

2. Click on eduroam from the list of available networks.

3. When prompted for WiFi credentials:

   1. Log in with your JCU Email Address: Your full JCU email address (username@jcu.edu)

   2. Password: Use the password that you use to log onto a school computer or Canvas.

   3. 

4. If prompted to accept or trust a certificate while attempting to join the network, it is safe to do so. You will also be prompted to input your password for your Mac to approve this.

   • 

5. After a moment you'll be connected to eduroam.

Connect to Eduroam on your iOS Device

1. Go to your Settings, then the Wi-Fi section, and tap on eduroam.

   • 

2. When prompted for WiFi credentials:

   • Log in with your JCU Username: Your full JCU email address (username@jcu.edu)

   • Password: Use the password that you use to log onto a school computer or Canvas.

   • 

3. Tap Trust on the next screen to complete the process

   • Failure to accept the certificate will result in the wifi not connecting.

   • 

4. After a moment you'll be connected to eduroam.

Connect to Eduroam on your Android Device

Android devices may need to manually adjust some additional setting when connecting to Eduroam. Please use the information below to assist you. Note that the menus will be somewhat different depending on the brand of your device.

1. Open the Settings app, then go to Network & internet, then Internet.
   • 
2. Tap on eduroam option.
3. Fill out the connection settings as follows:
   • EAP Method: Peap
   • Phase 2 Authentication: MSCHAPV2 (or None)
   • CA Certificate: leave blank or (unspecified). However, on some devices you may need to select "System Certificates", and then select "Do not validate" or "Do not verify" Both options are correct. 
   • Domain (if asked for one): jcu.edu
   • Identity: Your full JCU email address (username@jcu.edu)
   • Anonymous Identity: Leave blank
   • Password: Use the password that you use to log onto a school computer or Canvas.

4. Tap Connect to finish connecting to eduroam.
