Connect to a JCU Printer from a Personal Device

Below are the instructions for connecting to a printer from a personal computer or mobile device.

Prerequisites 

  • Before beginning, please ensure that your personal device is connected to eduroam, if you are on a wireless connection!

Windows

  1. Go to http://printers.campus.jcu.edu:9163/client-setup/known-host/windows.html
  2. Click DownloadUploaded Image (Thumbnail)
  3. Run the pc-mobility-print installer when it finishes downloading.Uploaded Image (Thumbnail)
  4. Select your language and agree to the terms and conditions.
  5. Check the box next to the printers you'd like to install.

    • Student printers will begin with "Print Release" or "PUBLIC" in their name. Please look at the label on the printer you want to use.
    • The rest of the printers are faculty-staff printers that will not print out student jobs.
  6. Enter your JCU credentials when prompted.Uploaded Image (Thumbnail)
  7. Click Finished
    1. Note that pages printed do count towards your allocated semester allowance. Once you meet that limit, your print job will fail due to insufficient funds. Contact ITS Service Desk for an allowance increase.

macOS

  1. Go to http://printers.campus.jcu.edu:9163/client-setup/known-host/macos.html

  4. Double Click on Papercut Mobility Print Client.pkgUploaded Image (Thumbnail)
  5. Advance through prompts, agreeing to license and click Install.
  6. The installer will take a minute to scan for available printers.
  7. Check the box next to the printers you want to use and click OK.
    • Student printers will begin with "Print Release" or "PUBLIC" in their name. Please look at the label on the printer you want to use.

  8. Click Ok and Finished to finish the installation.
  9. The first time you try printing using a given printer - you will be prompted to put in your University credentials.  Check the box remember this password in my keychain if you wish to have your credentials saved for future use. Uploaded Image (Thumbnail)
  10. The selected printers will then be added to your list of available printers on your computer.

  • Note: The Mobility Print installer can be run again at any time if you need to connect to an additional printer.

iOS

  1. Using Safari, go to http://printers.campus.jcu.edu:9163/client-setup/known-host/ios.html
  2. Tap Download.

  3. Tap Allow
  4. Navigate to the Settings app on your iOS device.Uploaded Image (Thumbnail)

  6. Tap Install. Put in your lock passcode for your device when prompted.

  7. Tap Install again.
  8. Tap Done at the top right.
  9. You will be prompted for your JCU username and password the first time you print.

Android

  1. Go to http://printers.campus.jcu.edu:9163/client-setup/known-host/android.html

  3. You'll be redirected to the Play Store page for Mobility Print. Tap Install.Uploaded Image (Thumbnail)
  4. Open the Mobility Print app once installed.
  5. When prompted allow notifications.Uploaded Image (Thumbnail)
  6. Tap on the tile that says "Tap here and check the Mobility Print Service is on."Uploaded Image (Thumbnail)

  8. When you print a document you should now see the list of JCU printers. Enter you JCU username and password when prompted.
